The role of the Science Institute

  • Acquiring new knowledge through basic and applied research in natural sciences.

  • Conducting service research and providing consultancy on physical and material sciences, natural hazards, resource utilization, and environmental issues.

  • Offering consultancy on matters related to physical sciences and communicate knowledge by publishing and presenting research results.

  • Providing students at the Faculty of Physical Sciences and Earth Sciences at the University of Iceland with facilities and access to equipment for research work, in accordance with service agreements with the respective faculties.

  • Promote teaching by building a creative research environment for students and training them in scientific thinking and work methods in physical sciences.
